Hazlewood UK National Truggy Champion
On the back of the UK Buggy success, Jon Hazlewood continued the run of Championships for Agama/NEMO Racing by taking the BRCA National Truggy title.
Coming into to the weekend, Jon was in a very strong Championship position needing only a decent result to ensure the Championship went his way.
As it was Jon drove well within himself to place his Agama A8T 3rd on the day to secure his title. The race was won by Bullitt driver Graham Alsop making a 1 off appearance in the Truggy series this year after a close battle with another Agama driver, and BRCA Junior Buggy Champion Ollie Currie. Ollie has competed well at the Truggy races this year and this result would actually secure 2nd overall in the series for him, and would complete an Agama 1-2. 3rd overall in the series was another Bullitt/Beta man, Michael Lewis. Coming into the weekend, Michael was actually the only man who could deny Hazlewood the Championship, but a not so good round by his standards saw him fall to 3rd overall behind Ollie.
The E-buggy class was already wrapped up for Elliot Boots, so it was a fun race for the competitors this time around. The main final saw Agama man and Nitro Buggy Champion Darren Bloomfield get into the lead at the start, and he would defend gamely from Elliott for 11 minutes of the 12 minute race. The two drivers had a couple of coming togethers in which Elliot waited, but these small delays kept Tony Truman well in touch and ready to pounce should the opportunity arrive. Late in the race, Elliott clashed with Darren again, this time not waiting for his rival and taking the lead, only for Tony Truman to blast past him on the run up to the line to take a fantastic victory in front of Elliot and Darren. This result would see Darren and Tony finish 2nd and 3rd overall in the series after a close fought season, with 3 different winners in the 5 rounds.
Thats it for the 2014 National racing season, and honestly we at NEMO Racing couldn't have asked for more with 3 BRCA titles in 1 season. Congratulations to all our Champions, and to all the team members who helped along the way.
